How a reverse osmosis system works
Water passes through a sediment filter and a carbon filter first, which catch grit and improve taste and odor. Then it's pushed through the reverse osmosis membrane, which removes much of what's dissolved in the water. The clean water is stored in a small tank under the sink and runs to its own faucet.
